~EMIRA "center" MUNIC!!
So let us force a smile and pretend that we're alive.
Oh, but somewhere, none of this happened. The bullets removed themselves. Life is beautiful
The File Jacket
Name: Emira Munic
Nickname(s)/Alias: Em, Mira
Codename: Center
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Profession: Student
Human Type: Natural Mutant
Faction: X-Men
Mutant Powers and Abilities: Emira can alter her own gravitational force. This doesn't mean she has telekinesis or can pull objects toward her. This only means that she can make herself float, fly, walk on walls, and jerk away from projectiles using her powers. With a bit of creative use, she could enhance her own strength by moving her gravitational pull above her while holding up something heavy, letting the forces cancel each other out in a sense. She can walk on walls perfectly, as well as balance for however long she needs to on most surfaces, no matter how small, and she can jerk herself out of harm's way rather effectively (minus a scrape or two if on pavement), but it's the flying that she isn't experienced with. The way she has to do it is jerk herself upward, let herself fall a bit then jerk herself upward a bit, shifting her gravity above her and letting it go back to its normal status, almost giving her the appearance of shaking in thin air. Again, she can't pull things to her, nor can she make someone else float. She can only do those things to herself. She has yet to find the spot where she can focus her powers on to make her float perfectly still, she still has to shake.

PERSONALITY:What people usually see first about Emira is almost unsettling. She has an unbreakable calm and never gets too emotional. When she’s sad she pouts a little. When she’s happy she gives a small smile. She does laugh, she does raise her voice every once in a while, but she never loses her cool. Emira simply doesn’t cry, she doesn’t get visibly angry, she just doesn’t get excited for things and she doesn’t get scared. First impressions are usually somewhat awkward for her, but she doesn’t stay quiet and stare like some would expect. She talks, she does show emotion, and she may come off as a jerk who doesn’t care about other people. She really does, as people who know her find out.
Once you get to know her, you figure out that her emotion-to-facial-response ratio is just a little off. She gets as emotional as anybody, it just doesn’t get translated to her face. It’s no medical issue or anything, it just happens. She’s a genuinely nice, down-to-earth person, willing to help out a friend if needed. She’ll always look for shortcuts to doing things, however, because of her laziness. Emira is dependable, especially when you want an opinion. She will be completely honest with whoever is asking her if they’re a friend, if not she’ll sugar coat it. At times, this might make her come off as a bit of a jerk to her friends, but Emira tries to at least help the opinion asker remedy the situation. Lots of things tick her off in small ways, but rarely ever do things tick her off in big ways. She tends to look at flaws instead of focusing on the positives, and is judgmental of people she hasn’t met yet. Once she meets the person the judgments are dropped and she forms new opinions on that person. Emira is the kind of person who ends up having many just friends as opposed to a few best friends. Emira is secretive, and that makes her a great secret-keeper. She can take secrets to the grave rather easily.
There is a side of her that nobody sees. Secretly, she has a whole plethora of problems all hidden behind a psychological wall of hers. Emira is plagued by low self-esteem, fits of depression, social anxiety and a general feeling of loneliness in the world. She tries to ensure that she never takes up too much of someone’s time and gets things done quickly and correctly to ensure that she doesn’t have to spend any extra time possibly taking up the time of others, and often gets frustrated when things take her longer than she expects. This has led her to be a very smart individual, but she tends to work below her skill level. She would rather do something easy quickly rather than take her time on something difficult.

Mother: Nina IzetbegovicDead, died in house fire.

FATHER: Dzevat IzetbegovicAlive, going by the name Zlatko Munic and is dead as far as Emira knows. She believes he and Zlatko are different people.

OTHER FAMILY: Miloska IzetbegovicHer grandmother, alive and well, still in Bosnia.
- Dead or Alive? Age and Cause of Death (if applicable):
HISTORY: Emira was born in Sarajevo, known as the “Jerusalem of Europe” for its religious diversity. Emira was born into the Jewish Izetbegovic family. They were rather well off and Emira knew a childhood of little stress, even less worry, and everything she wanted was bought for her. At least, until the age of five, when one day after school she saw her house burning and was whisked away to an orphanage, where she was shuttled from foster home to foster home until eventually ending up with her new father, Zlatko. She didn’t really know much about him, but he was apparently from out of town and looking for a daughter after his own daughter and wife were killed during the Siege of Sarajevo. Emira later found out that her parents went missing after the house was burnt. She assumed they were dead, but her young mind didn’t quite perceive it.
Zlatko managed to escape the capital and flee to New York City, where the two had lived ever since then and until Emira left.
Emira grew up living a fairly normal life after the language barrier was broken. Zlatko and Emira still speak Bosnian at home, but are both fluent in English. Emira discovered her powers when she was fifteen when she had a dream about flying. She was awoken with a start when she found herself hitting the ceiling- hard. She panicked, told Zlatko, and he immediately began looking into a place where Emira could go. When he found one, off she went to Xavier’s and Zlatko began to resume his previous life.
What Emira doesn’t know is that Zlatko is Dzevat, her biological father, who came from a long line of criminals (which explains Emira’s scar- the family “seal” so to speak). He had gotten plastic surgery and a haircut to not look like himself anymore. He was the first in that long line of criminals to get caught because of carelessness, he had lived a life of crime in the chaos of Sarajevo and his house was burned down by people who learned that he had swindled them. Her mother was, in fact, killed. She was an ex-prostitute who was wooed by Dzevat and promised a life of luxury in return for sex and secrecy. Dzevat is planning on bringing over some of his “business colleagues” from Bosnia to America in order to resume his previous lifestyle, all the while keeping up his double life with a clueless Emira. He was never much of a father, so it wasn't that difficult to resume a life of crime, and while he hasn't acted yet he may begin to do so in the very near future.

POST RP EXAMPLE:Oh, music. Music was wonderful, really. It healed the aches, then if you were lucky enough it calmed you down just enough to focus on something for long enough. Emira was one of those lucky ones on occasion. The fact of the matter was she was leaving. Leaving her house in New York with her foster dad who spoke her language and who knew her, and she was going off to somewhere she didn’t know. Her dad was the one who really set all of this up. She was going, and she knew she was going. That was about it. What could she expect? Zlatko had told her that it was a new beginning, a surprise. Something to look forward to. How did he expect her to get any sleep that night whatsoever? Of course she was thinking about what it would be like. The people, the place... It was all a mystery to her, and she’d be boarding the train tomorrow morning. Bright and early. Probably right as she got to sleep.
She sighed softly and packed her clothes, careful to fold it all nicely. She had seen a video on how to fold shirts in a second or two and she had mastered the art. At this point, Emira was confident that she was better at folding than the lady on the screen. She could fold it quicker and it came out neater- Emira was sure. Right? They didn’t really show how neatly the shirt was folded... And she had some creases here and there. But nobody really cared about that, right? She was saving enormous amounts of time just by doing this. She was ahead of the game, maybe at this rate she would be able to get a good five minutes of shut-eye in before her dad came waking her up with a parade. He seemed really happy for her. Genuinely. Probably just because she was leaving and he could focus on his own work.
Emira didn’t really bother him, ever. It was just... Whenever she was around, Zlatko had to put away whatever he was doing, finish up a conversation, prepare himself for Emira’s entrance and subsequent requests. She had stopped attempting conversation a while ago. Zlatko had a nice sense of humor, but it always seemed wasted in the long run. He never remembered anything Emira had said, so she usually took care of everything herself. When she learned how to drive, which she did as soon as she possibly could, she started getting the groceries, this, that, whatever. She would be fine with it if she got something she wanted once in a while. Well, he did give her gas money. Emira had a habit of pocketing it. She took shortcuts to save on gas, leaving a bit of money for herself. It added up over time. She was planning on buying a viola or something. Something she could play. Emira had her cello, her violin, her two guitars. Her crappy laptop that was just barely good enough for her purposes. And she had her friends.
Friends. Hopefully she’d make them at this place. Xavier’s something something something something something. Right? The guy’s name was Xavier, right? Emira figured it would be difficult to forget. “Xavier” just sounded... Official. Intelligent. Unusual. Sticks-in-your-brain-like-crazy-glue. Crazy glue smothered duct tape. Now that’s what holds the universe together.
