Kari honestly didn't know how to deal with the whole situation he now found himself in. Just a day earlier he would of thought all of this was crazy, a day earlier he would of denied any accusations of him being a mutant. But then again, a day earlier he had managed to blow up his locker in the middle of school. He didn't mean to, but he was grateful there was someone there who actually tried to help him.
And now he found himself at this mansion, a place for mutants to live and train. Although Kari still wasn't very convinced, he didn't want to learn how to use his powers, he wanted them to stop going off on their own. And on top of his powers going haywire his whole life had just changed overnight. He stopped going to his old school and after a visit to his house his parents approved him staying.
Now all he could do was sit outside and think about what had happened. He hadn't met anyone here yet, besides Draven; the guy who brought him to the Manson.
Kari sighed and looked around the green field of grass around him. It was a peaceful place, but it just seemed so different, as if something was hiding. Although Kari figured it was paranoia and shrugged it off. He began to start fishing through his pocket before he pulled out a small rectangular box of cigarettes. He quickly pulled one out before sticking it in his mouth and lighting it.
He took a few slow long drags from the cancer stick before he leaned back in the grass, not paying attention to anyone who may have been walking up.

“Water us too, please,” the daisies chimed together at Noela, but she continued to keep her watering nozzle on the lilies just beginning to sprout. It was a lovely day to be in the garden. The sun was bright and there was just the slightest breeze. “Then us, yes?” the roses called from their bushes.
“Yes, yes of course,” Noela smiled. She loved caring for her dear flowers, well they were the schools flowers, actually, but they might as well be hers with all the time she spent with them. Their little souls shimmered dimly around their petals, each flowers a little different in color and size. She could almost see smiles amongst their petals.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh…” the daisies cried out joyously as the liquid rained down upon them. Happy giggles filling the air as Noela moved her hose from one flower patch to the next. She was almost done when she started to smell smoke. It was faint, but still brought butterflies into Noela’s stomach and a few flowers coughed in complaint. She was terribly frightened by the thought that something could be burning right now. What if the flames spread? Would they come here? What if they engulfed this entire garden?!
“Calm down, don’t be stupid, Noela,” She whispered to herself following the smoky trail of scent in the air, the hose still tightly in her grip.
“A boy is just smoking, Noela,” an elm told her frankly, the low voice making her jump. ‘No fire… just a cigarette?’ The thought made Noela laugh dryly at herself. She had been so worked up over nothing! She set the hose down and carefully made her way through the woods to a green field where sure enough a very blonde boy laid smoking away, oblivious to the world.
“Are you old enough to be smoking that?” Noela called out, walking gracefully towards the figure. She realized as she got closer that she’d never even seen him before, so her walk became slower and more thought out. She wasn’t good at speaking to people she new well, and talking with a complete stranger, especially one her age, made her rather nervous.
“I mean, I’d r-rather like it if you’d at least not foul the air around here,” she added coyly, worried about the health of the flowers so nearby.

Kari continued to take a couple more drags off his cigarette, watching as the smoke drifted upward toward the bright blue sky. He sighed as he began to think about how he was leaving behind everyone at his old school. Sure he really didn't know anyone there, but it was strange to think that he wouldn't see them every day anymore.
But then again that gave him a whole new lease, a blank check so to speak. He was able to start over here, even though it was a rather odd place. He took another drag from his cigarette before he grumbled and scratched the side of his head. He started taking another drag from his cigarette before he was interrupted by a voice nearby. He started coughing and looked up as a girl asked him if he was old enough to smoke. Kari grumbled and looked at her rather annoyed. "What do you care?"
He got up and took another drag from the cigarette as he started to examine the girl. She seemed about the same age as him, but then again at this school anything could be possible. So just to be sure he decided that it might be best to humor her. He licked his finger and quickly pinched the red cherry of the cigarette, putting it out. He quickly put it behind his ear and looked at her rather annoyed. "Better now?"

The boy stood a few inches taller than Noela, which made her involuntarily take a step back. Though he did put the cigarette out like she had asked, obviously he was not pleased by her intrusion. His face bore a slight scowl as sarcastic, defensive words spilled from his mouth. She could tell she had been right about his age; his defensiveness gave him away.
“Well, I don’t really c-care if you are old enough to smoke or not,” Noela retorted, trying to put a strong glower on her face as well. “If you aren’t I’m not the one who’ll get in t-trouble. All that matters to me is that you don’t leave your smoked cigarettes lying all over, and that you don’t start an f-fire.” Noela honestly was trying to sound strong and convinceing, but her shyness was taking over and she wasn’t able to hold up the meaning of her words in the tone of her voice.
“And thank you,” she added, her voice a little stronger than before. “And please, do as you want,” she said carefully remembering what her brother had said about not ripping on people for their actions. Of course, Noela could have told him it was bad for him, ripped on him for being underage, and been a tattletale, but honestly what good would even come of that? The guy obviously knew they weren’t the greatest thing to ingest, because basically everyone with the intelligence of a preschooler knows that this day in age. Plus telling on him would only make him sneak them and be more trouble than nessesary.
“Just don’t start a fire,” Noela asserted again, her voice not failing her this time, and she actually felt fairly assertive. She paused again remembering that the tree had oddly not known his name. “You must be new here,” she said calmly, glancing around the field at everything, but him. “I’m Noela,” she took a deep breath and looked him in the eye. “And you might be?”

Kari sighed and scratched the side of his head as the girl who had intruded on his quiet afternoon continued to stare at him. He stuck his hands into his pockets as he stood there looking at the girl. Of course Kari had no idea if she was new too, or if she had already gone here. But then again she may be in the same situation wondering why Kari was here too.
He heard her mention something about not caring if he was too young to smoke and he shrugged, after all it was better than hearing that she did care. After all then he would be in quite a bit of trouble from the staff if they found out. She continued to say something about not leaving his buts everywhere or starting a fire and he chuckled. "Sure.. because burning down the place was the first thing on my mind." He noticed her stern tone, trying to sound tough in front of him. Kari really wondered if he was that intimidating, after all he was a little on the feminine side, even though he didn't openly show it. He heard her say thank you and he smiled a little before he began to think about what Draven had told him. Sure she seemed normal enough, but then again so did he and Draven. But then again Draven was the first mutant Kari had met, and now being at a school like this for only mutants was really messing with him. To go from no one being a mutant to everyone in just one day, it was a idea he was still getting used to.
He sighed as he began to get bored with the whole situation in the field, although he still had no idea what anyone did for fun around here. But just as he was about to give up he heard her ask him another question. "This guy Draven brought me here last night... And my name is Kari."

“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Kari,” Noela said nodding. She knew what it was like to be new. “I’ve haven’t been here that long either,” she told him nervously. She glanced up at his face and sighed. She should have expected this; he was board with her already. She couldn’t blame him, of course, because he was probably used to chatting away and having fun with friends… and she wasn’t.
“The others here all seem nice though,” Noela told him honestly, because she had seen practically everyone here and they all looked kind. She just hadn’t ever spoken to them. “They are all very bright and friendly, so I’m sure you’ll make new friends in no time.” She began to twirl a lock of hair around her finger. “This place will seem better in no time at all; you just haven’t gotten over the move yet.” She gave him a small smile.
“Just don’t let any of the teacher catch you with that,” she laughed lightly pointing to the cigarette behind his ear. “And don’t let me catch you burning away any plants.” Her soft laughter continued at her tiny joke.

"Nice to meet you Noela." Kari scratched the side of his head as he looked at the girl. So far she was the first person he had met at the school, besides Draven. He heard her mention something about not being at the school very long and he cracked a soft smile. "Yeah? Seems like a weird place, all for mutants dont ya thing?" When she said something about everyone being nice he shrugged, after all he really didn't know anyone.
He started to get a little curious as she started talking. For the most part he wasn't listening, but wondering about what her power was. After all he had no idea what his was, after all he had just blown stuff up and make fog. He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard her say something about burning plants and he looked at her rather confused. "Ill try not to." He chuckled a little and looked away for a moment before he looked back at her. "So at this school.. What if you don't know what your powers are?" He looked at her rather embarrassed and scratched the back of his head.

“A weird place?” Noela repeated softly. That wasn’t quite the word she would use, but she supposed it fit. “Yes, it tends to be rather peculiar… but it’s nice, you know? To know that your not the only person out their with such… particular talents.” She smiled softly brushing her hair out of her face, and glancing down at her shoes timidly.
When kari answered that he would ‘Try not to’ start any plants on fire she could not help but smile brightly up at him. However, that smile was quickly drowned away by his next words. He didn’t know what his powers were? This was something Noela could only partially relate to.
“W-Well, um…” Noela was quite unsure on what to tell him. He looked rather uncomfortable as he admitted this, so Noela did not want to let him down. “What did you do then? I mean, how did you realize you were a mutant?” She asked, sincerely wanting to help him a bit. “Have you tried doing anything with your powers since you first noticed them?” She glanced around the field briefly. “Perhaps you could try using them here?”
