Maria was curled up in the corner of the library, comfortably seated in a large, overstuffed leather chair. A book was sitting in her lap, her brown eyes cast down at it as she read line after line with a small smile on her face. It wasn't uncommon for her to be found in this room, after all... She loved her books. When she wasn't teaching, or sleeping, or eating, she could always be found in the library in the same chair and always, always, always with a book. However, her eyes lifted from the book and a look of concentration was on her face. Anyone who knew her knew the look on her face - she was trying to project the image of a book character into the chair directly across from her. After a minute or so the shape of a man started to form in the chair. At first it was fuzzy, much like that of an unfocused projector image, but within time it started to sharpen, become clearer. And what was that goal, you ask? Well, you shall soon see. With a final glance at the book, the image finally came into focus, revealing a tall, beautiful blonde haired man with eyes that seemed to change colors in the light. Maria shut the book and smiled warmly at the image. " Bonsoir, mon cher Lestat," she said, amusement playing in her eyes. " Comment allez-vous?" The man looked around, his eyes changing between hues of violet, blue and grey as he took in the objects in the room before looking to Maria. " Bored. Louis keeps whining. I'm growing weary of him, and of Claudia," he said with disdain in his voice. Yes, the man in the chair was none other than the Vampire Lestat, projected straight from Maria's mind. Was he real? Heaven's no. He was merely a figment of Maria's imagination. His interactions were also merely Maria's imagination. And what an imagination she has. A soft chuckle escaped Maria's lips and she leaned forward, pulling lightly on a few strands of her softly curled brown hair. " I'm sorry to hear that, Lestat. Perhaps you should just leave them?" she asked, her French accent ringing clearly in her voice. A shrug came from Lestat and he smirked that ever charming, ever infuriating smile at Maria which made her heart soar. " Perhaps I should. However they couldn't live without me. After all, life without me -" he started before Maria finished, " Would be even more unbearable." " Yes. Exactly." The two laughed and Maria smiled more. It was days like this she really loved being her gift. What human could speak directly with their favorite book characters? None. Not unless they were schizophrenic or delusional, at least. Maria folded her arms across the closed book in her lap, her eyes intently focused upon the figment of her imagination. " You could always just stay here, monsieur Lestat, with me." Lestat leaned close to Maria, his long legs crossed, and smirked at her, his ever-changing eyes gazing into her hazel orbs, " Yes, I very well could, but it wouldn't be fair to dear Louis and little Claudia if you kept me all to yourself. Not that I blame you really since I'm far too beautiful for any mortal to behold. I can't help being a gorgeous fiend, it's just the card I drew." Maria smirked. Yes, he really was a gorgeous fiend, but it was also the way she'd imagined him. He was perfect, at least in her mind, and that was all that mattered. --------Time: Early evening Tag: Open Words: 593 Notes: None Status: Complete Credit: Mel! As much as Cally loved to read, she wasn't in the library very often. As an art teacher, she never needed to get books for classes and most of her favorites were located in her own personal library under her bed. But today, she found herself needing a change of scenery. usually it involved traveling herself up to the rooftops or into the garden to sketch, but now, she was looking for something less natural to draw. There was something calming, very still, about the library, nothing moved, books sat on the shelves waiting be be picked and it smelled the same... like history. A big change from the evolving art room, full of movement and life, not to mention the smell of paint.
Her plan was to sit at the large bay window of the library and draw the scene in front of her, the lines of bookshelves, the tables with students studying, computers, all with a magnificent light source from behind. There was a student who could manipulate colors and transfer them on to paper, it was literally taking their mental picture and printing it out perfectly. Cally sometimes wished her powers would have been like that, then, maybe, her past would have been different and she would be able to use oil based paints without worry about her sparking and setting them on fire. While being able to kill someone with a snap was helpful, it was twice more helpful to the students if she had something... more creative.
As if on cue to the thought, Cally's head turned. Her eyes landed on something strange. She could faintly feel everyone's electric signature in the building, but what she was looking at didn't give off anything like that. A man, yes, someone she had never seen before. A second later, her questions were answered. Maria del Soleil sat in the large leather bound chair in that spot. Maria was another teacher at the institute, she taught literature with the help of her abilities, mental projection. Any form or thought could be brought to life in a moving picture for her. While not powerful by any means, it amazed Cally. She would trade powers in a heartbeat. She just thought it was so beautiful, what Maria could do.
"That's quite a trick, amazing..." Cally approached Maria. Despite the fact that they had both been here a while, Cally knew little about her as a person. Now was as good of time as any.

She reclined in the overstuffed leather chair, the book slipping in the the crack between the cushion and arm of the chair, and watched Lestat with amusement. The way his head turned and light played upon his features, the way he picked off a piece of lint from his sleeve, and the overall facial expression. Each feature painstakingly imagined took a large amount of concentration, but more so when she was conversing with.. well.. herself. " I'm quite certain they would be alright without you," she said finally. Those ever-changing eyes turned back toward her and he raised a delicate eyebrow. " You think so, do you?" he asked, the faintest traces of annoyance dripping from his voice. " Oui. Very much so. After all, little Claudia learned from you." Lestat seemed to ponder over Maria's words for a moment, returning to a silent state. It was when a new voice interrupted that both looked up. " Do you mind? This conversation is private," Lestat said with a sigh of exasperation. A faint blush crept up on Maria's cheeks and she cut off the image, sending Lestat back in to the depths of her mind. " Sorry. He seems to take on a life of his own every once in a while. His personality seems to be a second nature to me at this point," she said with a slight laugh. She motioned to the now vacant chair across from herself, " Please, join me." --------Time: Early evening Tag: Cally, open Words: 239 Notes: Sorry if it's a little short =/ Status: Complete Credit: Mel!
