It wasn't safe for Cally to walk and think. When she had something on her mind, Cally could walk for hours on end. Usually, she would just walk forever on a treadmill, wait until her thoughts were clear and finish her day. But, as the sun set down on the horizon, Call found herself downtown. Just great, a woman walking in the dark downtown, it just asks for muggers. There was no doubt that she could defend herself, in fact, she would have to restrain herself, something like that could end up badly for whoever tried to cross the blond mutant. Instead of traveling, the way she normally would, Cally took this time to continue walking, she would make her way back to the institute some time, given that she kept a steady pace.
There was a rush of cool air that seemed to cut through her light jacket, making her spine shiver. It was expected though, that the air would be chill. The pier was right next to the downtown area. Maybe it was the water, or something else that gave Cally a strange feeling in her stomach. She usually avoided the pier, or anyplace near water for that fact. It was bad for her, and for anyone else near water. It made her short circut, and even though her always worn metal gauntlets helped... well, none of it was pretty. Cally just hoped that her thoughtful walk would lead her to the institute quick enough.
Thinking, though, Cally's thoughts, were a mess of things. Always on the move, from one memory to another. It was entertaining, Cally sometimes though her thoughts to be like a movie, her mind was a constant film, creating twists and turns and blackouts and plot holes in her memories, constantly having Cally forced to fill them in. Digging up those that wanted to be forgotten, like her training years with the terrorist group. They had served many purposes, assassins, thieves, couriers. Always unpleasant. They had acted more of mercenaries than terrorist, since they took any job for the money. Those years were far behind her, but always fresh in her mind. They were the reasons for the nightmares.

It wasn't safe for anyone to walk, really. Especially mutants. Unbeknownst to them, there was a predator out, and not the Government kind. Okay, maybe a little of the Government kind, but not in the way you're thinking. No one noticed the man sitting outside a cafe, a large peppermint mocha latte in his grasp. They didn't notice him observing the people that walked by, the people that surrounded him, and if they did, they thought nothing of it. It was New York City, a place where everyone observed everyone for any and every reason imaginable. This man, though, was listening to the people talking, the people thinking. There was someone out there of interest to him, though he didn't quite know who yet. They were special.. Different. They had something he wanted, something he needed desperately. A sip of his coffee here and there made him seem almost normal, made him look inconspicuous. No one noticed the small smirk that played on his lips, or the devious gleam in his brown eyes. If only they knew who he was, what he was. Surely then there would have been panic ensuing. In a flurry of thoughts around him, but he caught the only one that stood out the most. A woman's thoughts, thoughts about a certain terrorist group. His smirk widened as he saw a flash of blond hair float past him. Callisto. ' Well,' he thought to himself, ' look who we have here.' He waited until she was far enough away that she wouldn't notice him, then stood up and casually walked a few paces behind her. So, she still thought about the days of old, did she? That amused him to no end. He himself hadn't even thought about that particular group since he'd left and joined the brotherhood. But now here was a girl he remembered all too well. The girl who had something he wanted, the girl who got away without giving him what he needed. Through the dark he followed her, all the while listening to her thoughts while they walked. And it wasn't until she neared the pier that he slowly closed in on her. It was like a hunter stalking its prey, waiting for the right time to strike. And then she was near the water. Perfect. A quick glance around, he noticed a piece of a broken wooden box lying on the ground. He smirked then, with a flick of his fingers, launched the piece past Callisto's head. " You know, those nightmares of yours really are tame compared to what you did," he said, his words coming from within her mind, " then again, those nightmares are tame compared to your memories of me." He crept closer to her until he was right behind her, then whispered into her ear, " miss me?" Words 468 Tag Callisto Notes None Credit Mel

She should have recognized the shiver. More than that, she should have been watching. The breeze that the wood left as it flung dangerously close to her head was warning enough. It was something she knew, something she recognized. Cally should have known that the voice in her head was more than just a day dream, or a scary thought. As if on cue, all of her defenses went up. Her hand gripped tightly, and her covered hand charged up ever so slightly, ready to discharge any build up energy in a second. The voice talked about her nightmares, how tame they were compared too... those days. Compared to him, the times with him, the days with him, the fights with him. She hadn't dreamed of those days in years, they were the ones that she kept locked away, with the help of the professor, of course. But was was all unraveling with two words whispered in her ear, " Miss me?"
Cally spun around, seeing right into his eyes. Her body dissipated into the current beneath her feet, but there was too much interference with the water near them. Damn him! She thought, Viktor Black must have planned this. Cally was only able to bring a few more feet of distance between herself and the monstrosity that stood before her. Her first instinct was escape. She may have been faster than him, but there was no current directly to the Institute. Escape was slim, and fighting, well, she may be powerful, but even she would have a tough time against him. He was a level five. His scary, intense eyes make her scared shitless. He hadn't changed at all in these years.
"Miss you? No, not at all..." Cally tried her best to keep the distance between them large. She remembered the first time she met Viktor, it was forever burned into her memory. She needed to kill him, that was her job. She needed to get paid. Cally met him and immediately, the teen girl felt out of her league. She was young at the time, he was a seven years her senior. He was powerful and she was learning. The young blond mutant put up a fight, a good one too. But she lost, bad, ran away before he could get what he really wanted.
Her powers.
After all these years, Cally thought that he had died, someone had finally caught up to him or something. No. Viktor was standing in front of her, the same as he did all those years ago, and she could tell, there was the same hunger in his eyes, the disgusting, putrid anger that never went away and poisoned whoever looked into them. Cally had a few tricks to stop a telepathic mind from reading hers, but there was only so much she could do against him. Damn him and his abilities. One wrong move, and he would win. The only hope she had was the advanced pair of gauntlets on her hands, stronger and better than the ones she wore the first time, and her experience gained. The only problem, he had those year too, who knew what tricks he played now.
"What the hell do you want, Viktor?" She asked him, backing away slowly, even though she already knew the answer.

There it was, that look he loved. Fear. It was like a drug to him, it intoxicated him, lured him into a high that spread throughout his body. And I mean every part. He made no move though. He didn't take a step forward, he didn't take a step backward. No, he simply stood there, one hand in his pocket, the other wrapped around his latte. He didn't even need his powers to tell him what she was thinking. She was cursing the very sight of him, he could read it within her eyes. Surely she was plotting a way to get away from him? He smirked, then took a sip of his coffee. " Are you sure about that? Surely there must have been dreams about me somewhere along the way after our last," he paused, thinking for a moment to find the proper word, " meeting?" A look of amusement played in his eyes. Oh, yes.. He was definitely in his hunting mode. What was transpiring was a game to him, one that never ceased to get old. " I don't suppose you ever got paid, did you? No, probably not. I'm still very much alive, after all. That must have put a cramp in your lifestyle." His mother always told him not to play with his food. However, he couldn't resist. Yes, he did want her powers. He could have tracked her down, could have gone after them while she was asleep, however he'd chosen not to. Where was the fun in that? There was no sport, no look of fear, no pumping of adrenaline. There was no screaming and no pain involved. He loved the sound of screams, they were music to his ears. Then there was also the blood involved. The color, the taste, the texture.. Each mutant's blood tasted different depending on their power, that had been proven to him time after time. He had to wonder, though... What did hers taste like? Ah! There it was, the question he was waiting to hear. What did he want? " What do I want?" he echoed. " Just to catch up, make up for the lost time all of these years." The devious gleam in his eyes twinkled with impish delight. " How are you, Callisto? I hear you're batting for the other team, now. You know, the good guys? Any loves in your life? Men? Women? Both, perhaps?" He took a step forward. " Maybe I want a hug? After all, it's not every day you see old acquaintances." Words 424 Tag Callisto Notes None Credit Mel

Cally supposed that Viktor was right about one thing. He had popped up in her nightmares once in a while. Not him directly, but a shadowed figure, looming, always there, taunting her. Unbearable, it was so unbearable, and that's just the way he liked it. He was a sick freak and she hated that she even took the job in the first place. As much as she hated her life as in that group, she never really regretted joining, it gave her the life she lived now. Viktor, however, was the one thing she regretted. She regretted running away, or even picking the job in the first place. She regretted losing and running. Now she was bearing the consequences.
'You're right, Viktor, I have been dreaming about you. I've been dreaming about how i would have killed you. Chopped your head off and burned your flesh and bones. Or maybe just electrocute you until your skin melts off of your body." She had a bit more anger in her voice than she realized. Cally tried to compose herself, she knew that the calm demeanor would keep her alive right how. Anything rash and done in anger would lead to mistakes and... her death.
Viktor was stalling. He had no interest in her. But why was he taking so long? It was his stupid game. He toyed with her, just the same way he did all of those years ago. "The good guys have their perks, it's better than starving until another job comes along," When he took a step forward, she equaled his movements back. She kept the same distance between them. It made the menial difference in terms of safety. She didn't want to chance anything with him. Any other mutant, she would gladly give them a fist of her adamant gauntlet to their face. Not Viktor, its what he wanted.
She just laughed when he offered a hug. He was disgusting"Just keep back, I'm not interested in playing your games," Right now, she wished her body was as strong as her mind at this moment. She felt like jello. Her shaking were barely visible. Cally could only imagine how weak she looked now, so similar to the fight they had before. But Viktor should know that she wasn't weak.

Chopped off his head? Electrocuted him until the skin melted off his body? He started laughing. " Really now? Didn't you try that before? If I remember right, you didn't get very far." Grinning as he looked at her, he took another step closer. " I could be nice and let you try again, if you really feel the need to prove that you can do it. Although, that just doesn't appeal to me today and, besides.. This latte is pretty decent. I'd hate to have to drop it." Was he stalling? Truly? He wasn't sure at that moment. Maybe he was too wrapped up in his little game of cat and mouse. He could always end the game, but.. Again, that would be no fun. " Ah, I see. Self preservation, then? Smart move. Tell me, though," he started as he took yet another step closer to her. " How many of them are aware of your past? All of them? None of them? Only one of them? How would they feel if they knew that you'd once been an assassin?" She wasn't interested in his games. Too bad, because he was. He was very interested. In fact, he was so interested that his mind was already spinning with ways to get what he wanted. " You can't tell me you didn't miss this. In fact, it's like we are even dancing. I take a step forward, you take a step back. If I take a step to the side, more than likely you would take a step to the side. I'm leading, you're following." Amusement continued to flicker within his eyes. He could almost make out just the barest traces of her body shaking. Did she look weak? Yes. Yes she did. Was he stupid enough to not know how strong she was? Not a chance in hell. " You know, I had a thought not too long ago," he lied, " you and I could make a magnificent team and collect on life insurance policies. We could be rich, we could be powerful. I can't be all that bad." Words 345 Tag Callisto Notes None Credit Mel

Cally couldn't let him her to her. He had that affect on people, drove them crazy, but she needed to be strong. She needed to remind herself that no matter the words he used, Viktor was dangerous. Nothing he said would benefit her. But it struck her when he asked how many people knew. The teachers knew, the professor knew. It wasn't a secret that she was in the organization, although, there were no details about what she had done. Only the professor knew the full extent of it. But Cally shook the thoughts, this wasnt the time for her mind to drift. She kept quiet. Didn't answer his questions. As soon as she could, she knew what to look for, and what to do.
Her vision began to see her surroundings. Damn it! She was being backed into a corner. While farther from the pier, their little 'dance', as he called it, made her lose her focus, and she was backing into a trap. She should have seen it coming, but Cally was so determined to block her mind from telepathy that she didn't notice this. Her fingers dug into her palms, which only met metal. She would have broken skin without the layer of the gauntlet protecting her hands. It was probably for the best. If Cally remembered correctly, it was through blood that he could gain what he wanted.
She needed to recall everything that happened the night they fought. The young Cally had underestimated him, she was caught off guard by how charming he seemed. She had been completely entranced by him, that made her miss the opportunity to kill Viktor. It wasn't going to happen again. "As temping as that offer sounds, I'll have to decline,"
She stopped moving, before all of her openings would disappear behind him. "We both know that I am nothing more than a thing to you. You'll get what you want and leave," She wasn't going be fooled like many others she had heard of. "But is that all you want? To offer me a job?" [/blockquote][/blockquote] NOTES NOTES HERE. Yes, he did seem to have the tendency to drive people, there was definitely no mistaking that. In fact, it was one of the many joys he had in his life. With a little voice in the head here, a little voice in the head there.. Some people could be persuaded to do anything he wanted without them realizing it. Who did he get that power from, again? Jackson? Jonathan? Josepth? Oh well, it was some name that began with the letter "J". He couldn't be expected to keep track of all those he borrowed powers from, could he? I didn't think so. Another step forward here and there, a step to the side every once in a while, and he had her backing closer and closer to the walled in corner of the pier. Had he planned it? Perhaps. He liked to go with the flow, and she was making it very easy for him to do so. His facial expression never changed during the entire time, even when he saw that she realized where he was leading her in their little dance. He had to wonder, though.. Would the barriers around her mind that she was struggling to keep up fade? How much longer until he was able to get inside of her mind? Soon, he hoped. Soon. One final step and the dance had finished. She was sandwiched between him and the corner. With a final sip of his coffee, he threw the cup over his shoulder, then rested a hand on one side of her shoulders. " It was.. But I've had a change of heart, you see. And you were right.. There is one thing I'm after more than anything." Thoughts rolling through his mind at lightning speed, a change of tactics seemed to be in order, especially since she'd been so easily lead into the corner. So, without another word, he quickly pressed his lips against hers while he lifted his free hand as if to caress the side of her face. Perhaps she wouldn't notice the shard of glass that was slowly lifting in the air. Words 352 Tag Callisto Notes None Credit Mel

There is was, the end of the line. Cally ran out of places to go, and her heel hit the wall. Her spine was next for contact with the rough surface. Her palms laid themselves flat against the wall. She should have left when she had the chance. The moment that he entered her mind, Cally should have beelined in the other direction, no looking back and certainly no eye contact. But it was her pride, the thought that she could fix things by getting rid of him at that moment that kept her from moving. Now look where she was. No where to go, no room to move, and Viktor was getting closer to her. The cup that had been in his hands was now tossed over his shoulder and laid motionless on the ground. Both of his hands were free.
Recollection was her best friends right now. Cally had to remember every last detail of that fight. It was her hope of getting somewhere. His hand rested on her shoulder and every fiber in her body tensed. She shook ever so slightly and his face got closer to hers. Please, no... As quick as he could move, his lips were against hers. She could practically taste his hunger, seeking to devour her, steal her entity, her soul and leave her breathless and dying. His body was up against hers, preventing her from struggling out of the way. Her eyes weren't closed, she could see everything. There was even the slightest change in the electrical charge in the air, so slight, that if every nerve in her body wasn't on fire, she wouldn't of been able to see it, the shard of glass in the air.
Cally collected the atoms of her form and discharged them, melding her body into the available current she found in the building Viktor had pressed her too. It was small and unpredictable, she didn't know where she would end up. She didn't even know if Viktor's body had traveled with her. The only way to know what when they resurfaced. If he hadn't gone with her, he would be standing in the same spot she left him, with singing lips, raised hair and a static feel all around him. Since she didn't control the current she was traveling in, when she reformed, her body was sent tumbling on the ground. Something was going to be bruised, that was for sure. Cally hadn't traveled far, maybe a few feet, but she was no longer stuck between him and a hard place. Unfortunately for her, her resurfacing was painful, and she laid on the ground for a moment, facing the pain of her arrival. Her blue eyes open slowly.

There it was, a faint shift in the electrical charge in the air. His eyes weren't closed, he was watching her as he kept his mouth over hers. This one, unfortunately, didn't seem like she was going to give in any time soon. At least now, however, he was starting to get somewhere. Too bad he couldn't just absorb her powers through a heightened state of adrenaline, that would have made his life a little easier in this particular case. And then, just like that, she was gone. He was left there, standing alone and facing the wall. His hand raised to his lips, feeling the tingling sensation coursing through them, and he smirked a bit. " Well, this is going to be an interesting night," he murmured to himself and slowly turned around. Where oh where could that electrical vixen have gone? He closed his eyes and listened, not just with his ears, but with his mind. There was nothing for a moment, but then the faint whisperings of a certain blond's thoughts. Slowly he opened his eyes and looked to his right. "I see you," he thought, letting his words ring within her mind in a whisper. With deliberate slowness he walked toward her, his hands facing palms up at hip height. Glass shards slowly lifted from the ground, hovering around him while they glittered menacingly in the light. " Do you really think running is going to help?" A single shard flew toward her, shattering on the ground just inches from her body. Then another one flew, landing on the opposite side. " I wasn't going to kill you, I promise. I just wanted a taste of your life source. A simple prick of the finger would have been sufficient." Several more shards of glass flew toward her and shattered far enough away from her body so that they wouldn't even hit her skin. " Callisto, Callisto, Callisto," he said with a sigh, " Whatever shall I do with you now?" Finally he stopped in his tracks, standing barely six inches from her. He gazed down at her, the glass shards swirling around his body, that ever infuriating smirk plastered to his face. " Hello, you electrical vixen you." Words 366 Tag Callisto Notes None Credit Mel

Traveling would be helpful if her body hadn't completely hated the resurfacing. The water in the ground was too much for her to handle. If she worked hard enough at it, Cally could make herself pop up every few feet, but one wrong move and she would land in the waters, and fry everything in it including herself. If she would drag Vik along with her, she could put an end it everything right now.But that was no guarantee that she could even grab him fast enough to catch him in the travel.
What the hell was she supposed to do?
Cally stopped breathing as shards of glass shattered beside her. She couldn't let him take her powers, for more than one reason. There was no reason to have another electrokenetic of her strength be running around the city, especially not if it was Vik. But there was another reason. "Even if you take my powers, you don't have my control. You'll end up over generating and blow up half the city, killing yourself," It was true, that was what happened when her powers first emerged. the end result was the death of her father and total destruction of half her house.
She tried her hardest to find a current that lead away from this disaster, but it was hard. Her head was hurting, her body was hurting and the interference was overwhelming. But she did it anyway. Her body disappeared and felt like liquid running through the currents. When she reappeared, it was as bad as the first time. She ended up several feet in the opposite direction, her eyes rested on Viktor's back. As much as the pain stung her body, she forced herself onto her feet. Vik was right again. She couldn't run, she needed to fight him, or atleast give herself a good enough chance to get away. But with him standing, there was no chance of that now...

Viktor couldn't help but laugh at her statement. Blow himself up, as well as half the city? He smirked, " You would be surprised.. I bet you I could control the powers." Yes, he was being over confident and just plain cocky. It took a lot to make him change his mind about something, and unfortunately it was a very rare thing when it came to gaining powers from someone else. " Lets find out, though, shall we?" And, with that, he sent the remaining shards of glass hurtling at her. Unfortunately, though, by the time he did she'd managed to disappear, leaving the shards hitting pavement. The smirk faded, a look of annoyance finally settling on his face. The fun was beginning to wane, and he was no longer amused. In fact, he was just starting to become angry. He turned in place, scanning the area for her. The hell did that damn electrical girl go? At first he didn't even notice her several feet behind him, and he certainly didn't notice as she pulled herself to her feet. No, instead he lifted his hands, several wooden crates, stones, drug needles and whatever else that was in the general vicinity lifting with them. " Come out, come out, wherever you are, Callisto," he called, his voice echoing in the empty area. Finally he turned in her direction, his gaze hard and dark as he stared at the woman. " I tried to play nice," he started, sending a rock hurtling past her, " tried to make it easy on you. You didn't have to die, Callisto, especially not here of all places." Slowly he made his way toward her, objects being thrown left and right. " I was even going to be nice and ask you to teach me how to use them once I tasted that electrical blood of yours. However, now I'm not even going to bother. Now I'm just going to finish you off like I should have! After all.. With all this water around, you can't chase the currents for forever. Sooner or later, you'll wind up in that bay over there," he said as he jerked his head in the direction of the water. " Now.. What's your decision?" Words 368 Tag Callisto Notes None Credit Mel

Cally eyes widened, and something inside of her snapped. she literally felt like some vital organ was ripped in half, or a blood vein exploded inside of her. Some half hearted chuckle came from her mouth. Her eyes opened incredibly wide. Cally hadn't felt this way in years. Something was wrong. Maybe her body was responded to the stress it was under, who knows. Cally didn't feel like herself. She watched the mass amount of garbage surround her. She took a deep breath, and her mouth spread into a wide, unsuspecting grin. She took one step forward, and the electrical box that hung on the building next to them burst into sparks, igniting the entire sky in lights. There was one thing for sure.
Cally was no longer herself.
"You call that a choice? You aren't going to taste my blood, nor will you kill me, not tonight, not ever!" Another step, and the ground illuminated, bolts of electricity bounced around her, making a sweet static noise. The first line of objects came at her, and she waved her arm, sending a banner of electricity in its wake, crumpling everything in front of her to ashes. Anything that came with in a few inches of her hit a field surrounding her body and smoked until it was nothing.
Her body kept walking until she stood almost nose to nose with Viktor. Her eyes were bright with energy, she could see its casting glow on his face. Her head seemed to tick its way to the side. Her teeth chattered. Her entire body felt warm and alive, it quivered with the power she had been building up. No wonder why she couldn't fight before, she didn't know it, but her body was storing up energy this entire time. "No one kills me. We're done." She whispered to Viktor. WIth one last smile, her entire form was turned into a vision of white and blue.
The sight was spectacular, the sky lit up in a frenzy, the water was illuminated as well, and the half of the building they stood next to was on fire. The next thing Cally knew, She was on the ground, with at least fifty feet in between her and where she stood moments before. She looked at her sleeve, and saw her clothes smoking. She couldn't remember what had even happened.

Viktor watched as something visibly snapped inside of her. The way her mouth twisted, the way her eyes widened in a maddened state. He was no longer looking at the "sweet" side of Callisto. No, he was staring at the one he'd fought so long ago. He tilted his head while he listened to her babble on about him not getting her blood or killing her. And then there was that damn electrical field she was using to cremate the objects that he'd hurtled at her. Well, this definitely wasn't going to plan. Not by a long shot. However, even as she was within eskimo kissing distance, he didn't take a step back. He simply stood there, watching her with faint amusement and curiosity. She was almost too bright to look at as the electricity clearly ran through her entire being. He quirked a brow, though, when she spoke to him. Before he could speak, however, she turned into a form of what looked like pure energy. This time he had no choice but to shield his vision, she was simply too bright to look at. He didn't see the sky light up, didn't see the water reflect the powerful light that came from her. The only thing he knew was that the building that had caught on fire was crumbling and quickly. As he looked up, he saw the building break and one thought echoed through his mind before it came crashing down on him. 'Well.. This is going to be uncomfortable.' Words 254 Tag Cally Notes I'm out of ideas for the thread, so end it on your post if you like. Credit Mel
